Munich

Caught the movie with my army pals today.
The movie is set after the 1972 Munich massacre, and follows a Mossad squad, led by "Avner" (Eric Bana), that is ordered to track down and kill the Black September terrorists thought to be responsible for the Israeli athletes' murders. The extent to which the movie represents fact is a matter of debate. Spielberg himself refers to it as "historical fiction" saying it is inspired by actual events. (quoted from Wikipedia)
Somehow, I felt that Spielberg over-told a story. His old habit of having too many side characters pops up in this flim, and the ending seemed to be peppered with too much of inferrence that it nearly left me baffled.
Also, the over-emphasis on the morales was repeated till ad-naseum: violence begets violence & we all bleed red.
Nevertheless, an entertaining movie with a stellar international cast, with Eric Bana, Geoffrey Rush & Daniel Craig (the next James Bond). It may not be a breakthrough movie, but at least there's less cringe-worthy scenes compared to Brokeback Mountains (according to Tai Chuan)
Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
